WNMU International Forum of Sustainable Development 2026

Western New Mexico University External Affairs, in collaboration with UNIVA, is proud to present the 12th International Forum of Sustainable Development. This event brings together students, faculty, and professionals to discuss global sustainability challenges and international collaboration opportunities.

The forum will take place from August 3–7, 2026, and will feature keynote speakers, workshops, and networking sessions focused on sustainable development topics.

About the WNMU International Forum of Sustainable Development

The 12th International Forum of Sustainable Development is a week-long immersive program. It is designed to expose participants to key social, legal, and environmental topics across the Southwest United States. Furthermore, attendees will engage directly with local leaders, government officials, and community organizations in Silver City, Albuquerque, and Santa Fe.

Program Highlights

Throughout the forum, participants will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of activities. First, they will visit the New Mexico Round House in Santa Fe. Additionally, they will meet with Mexican Consulate representative Patricia Pinzon Sanchez in Albuquerque. Moreover, attendees will attend presentations by WNMU faculty and local professionals. They will also tour the WNMU campus and museum. Furthermore, participants will meet with Grant County officials, including the County Sheriff and Detention Center Director. Finally, they will explore natural landmarks such as the Catwalk and Cliff Dwellings, and visit the International Business Accelerator in Santa Teresa with Executive Director Jerry Pacheco.
