The Con Ganas Institute, in partnership with Academic Affairs, presents the Student Engagement and Efficacy (SEE) workshop series for the 2024-‘25 academic year! Each 60-90-minute standalone workshop includes lunch, and while open to all, appeals particularly to faculty seeking to improve their connections with WNMU students and to enhance their teaching toolboxes, in pursuit of facilitating greater student success. All workshops will be delivered in person and via Zoom. Faculty are invited to attend all or some of these workshops, as schedules allow. Please review the fall workshop lineup (Spring ’25 workshops will be announced in January) and join us for these enriching opportunities. No sign up or registration required
Workshop #1, Supporting the Whole Student: Student Success Intervention(s)
12:00-1:30 p.m. on August 29, 2024, in the GRC’s ABC Rooms
This workshop centers on a holistic and proactive approach to student success, emphasizing academic as well as emotional/interpersonal support. We’ll explore, on the academic side, tutoring services and student success/retention tools (e.g., dropout detective). On the emotional/interpersonal side, we’ll discuss how faculty can build rapport and trust with students to lay the foundation for earlier and more effective intervention to address personal challenges (e.g., stress and anxiety) that negatively affect academic performance. We’ll provide information regarding campus and classroom resources.
