This semester, we continue with our SEE workshop series, focusing specifically on supporting the development of core practical (and academic) skills. Each 90-minute standalone session, while open to all, appeals particularly to faculty seeking to improve their connections with WNMU students—namely, Latinx—and to enhance their teaching toolboxes in pursuit of facilitating greater student success at our Hispanic Serving Institution. All workshops will be delivered in person and via Zoom. No sign up or registration required.
Workshop #7, Engaging Critical Thinking Skills
As one of the “New Mexico essential skills,” the development and assessment of critical thinking are expected in every General Education course. Indeed, by the end of their general education program, students should utilize the four steps of critical thinking—problem identification, evidence acquisition, evidence analysis, and drawing evidence-based conclusions—and apply them across disciplines. This workshop demonstrates how critical thinking can be effectively integrated, developed, and assessed in General Education and, by extension, all coursework and endeavors beyond college.
12:00-1:30 p.m. on March 27, 2025, in the Global Resource Center (GRC) ABC Rooms & Zoom Link
Series co-moderated by Roberta Brown and Michael Cook
